For the 2023 season, we are hoping for 4-5 meets for MS and 5-6 HS meets (not including the States and Schroeder Mile race). Depending on the number of athletes, we could do as many a 7 meets, with 2 JV only and 2 Varsity only.
Practices include all athletes, while the meets for MS and HS may be in separate locations on weekends. Multiple teams practice at the Wilco track in the mornings. Parents and younger siblings are welcome to stay, but we kindly ask that the track is used for the athletes since it tends to get quite crowded in the mornings.
Fees
- Competitive program (includes meets): $185 High School (grades 9-12), $155 Middle School (grades 7-8), $145 Elementary Track (2x weekly)
- Running & Conditioning program (no meets, 2x weekly practices) - $120 all ages
- Registration fees includes registration, all regular season meet fees, supplemental insurance fee (team requirement) and a team singlet or shirt.
- A family max of $400.
This past season we noticed an increase in registration fees across the board for most Track meets. We try to keep fees as low as possible because we understand the many demands on family finances. However, the cost of the sport should never be an impediment to a family's ability to participate. Please contact us if you would like fee assistance.
At the high school level, track varsity letters will be awarded based on commitment, attendance, effort, personal achievement, and attitude. Notice that track varsity letters are awarded differently than in cross country.
Track and Field - is a sport which combines various athletic contests based on the skills of running, jumping, and throwing.
Track and Field events are generally individual sports with athletes challenging each other to decide a single victor. The racing events are won by the athlete who has achieved the greatest distance or height in the contest. The running events are categorized as sprints, middle, and long-distance events, relays, and hurdling. Regular jumping events include long jump, triple jump, high jump, and pole vault, while the most common throwing events in high school are shot put and discus.
